The brief

Having found ourselves in a difficult position with the Coronavirus we had to make a choice of closing our doors to customers or diversifying allowing us to both keep our loyal staff in work and feeding our customers who are now in lockdown.

The choice for us was to start a collection service with customers placing orders by phone and picking them up at the door using sensible social distancing and delivery service, which was quite a challenge for us in finding the right solution in such a short time, allowing us to manage this situation and get it right from the start.

The solution

Sean from ICR Retail Systems Isle of Man got in touch suggesting we take a look at TouchTakeaway and within 24 hours he had our menu online, had PayPal installed and we were up and running, thatโ€™s what I call a quick solution.

The result

Orders started coming in from both areas but we found customers preferred delivery as it gave them confidence knowing they could stay at home and still enjoy their favourite fish and chips.

There was also the benefit of customers filling in their own address making sure there were no mistakes and the security of adding their own card payment details on the order form which eliminated the exchange of cash on delivery, again, allowing social distancing.

The phone line was constantly engaged, now we can manage both phone and online orders which leads to a much more accurate and quicker service for everyone.

Our TouchTakeaway online menu took 63% of our total orders last week, what a result!

Our website directs customers to the TouchTakeaway platform for them to place their order.

We are also using ///what3words to help us locate delivery addresses, most are straight forward numbered correctly on regular streets but some are not numbered in the regular way which makes them difficult to find. Also, when you go out of town, into the countryside looking for house names or farms, can be a challenge.

We are absolutely delighted with TouchTakeaway and with the addition of TouchOffice Web we have the information at hand as to the busy times and of course, the amount of orders received each service.
