Latest ICRTouch sales trends: April vs May

We have been taking a closer look at ICRTouch sales data – analysing April, which included Easter and a two-week school break, alongside May, which saw two bank holidays, a half-term and a heatwave.

In April, ICRTouch solutions processed over £690,000,000, across a total of 56,760,272 orders, in comparison to May, where ICRTouch solutions processed just under a whopping £886,000,000 across 75,648,608 orders.

What does this mean?

Avg. customer transaction value  in April:  £12.15

Avg. customer transaction value  in May:  £11.71

Although the average transaction value has decreased in May, the combination of bank holidays, half-term and exceptional weather resulted in ICRTouch processing almost 20 million more orders than in April.

This trend is likely due to the Easter period throughout April, which appears to have driven higher transaction values across retail-focused businesses. Meanwhile, hospitality venues experienced a significant increase in footfall in May, driven by the bank holidays and warm weather, leading to more frequent smaller transactions.

Where does ICRTouch step in?

These figures are likely to increase further over the summer, with the World Cup also creating valuable opportunities for businesses to attract and engage customers. However, more customers and more orders also result in additional pressure on your team and day-to-day operations, which is where the ICRTouch ecosystem makes a real difference.

ICRTouch provides a range of solutions designed to help businesses maximise revenue, improve efficiency, speed up service and retain customers long after the seasonal rush. To drive summer success, we recommend implementing the following:

Automate order taking

Whether it’s through SelfService kiosks or the ByTable self-ordering platform, encourage customers to place orders independently, completely without the need for staff assistance.

The solutions free up your team, reduce queues at your busy bar areas, and even increase the average customer order total by 40%, making them the perfect tool to implement.

Dive into your reports

Gain a complete bird’s eye view of your business and make informed decisions to effectively capitalise on the summer months. With the TouchOffice Web back-office management system, you can dive into 200+ built in reports at the click of a button.

By analysing performance across key trading periods such as Easter and the recent bank holidays, you can quickly identify trends in sales and customer behaviour, and seamlessly plan ahead for a profitable summer.

Drive customer loyalty

Attracting new customers is only half the battle – ByTable‘s customer accounts and loyalty features help businesses turn first-time visitors into regular customers. Create bespoke loyalty schemes, reward repeat visits, and keep customers engaged throughout the busy summer months and beyond into quieter trading periods.

These are just a handful of things we recommend, but there are countless more possibilities within the ICRTouch ecosystem. Get in touch with your local Authorised ICRTouch Partner to find out more.
