Monterey Jack’s expands with the help of ICRTouch

Monterey Jack’s is a multi-award winning, American-themed restaurant and bar chain with outlets scattered across Scotland. The popular hospitality business serves more than a million guests every year and is quickly expanding, with plans to open even more venues across the UK.

Having recently opened their 6th location, Monterey Jack’s required an intuitive EPoS system to help them mitigate labour costs during the expansion. Therefore they reached out to a local Authorised ICRTouch Silver Partner, Select Epos, to implement a range of solutions.

The brief - reducing labour costs with intuitive solutions

Monterey Jack’s quickly gained popularity due to the authentic American style experience on offer, completing around 5,500 covers per week across all their sites. Operations at such a large scale however incur significant costs, and with plans to expand even further across more locations, this was a factor Monterey Jack’s wanted to mitigate as much as possible by streamlining services and implementing efficient EPoS.

To effectively tackle this, the business wanted to automate a range of their processes by encouraging customer self service and empowering existing staff as much as possible with intuitive tools, particularly when it came to order taking and management. Therefore, Monterey Jack’s decided to reach out to Select EPOS to implement the ICRTouch ecosystem.

The solution - robust ecosystem to encourage customer self-ordering

With lower operational costs in mind, the following solutions were implemented:

  • TouchPoint tills

  • TouchOffice Web back-office management

  • SelfService kiosks

  • PocketTouch digital order taking

  • ByTable self-ordering webshop & app

  • TouchKitchen order management screens

  • The aim was to recreate the Monterey Jack’s brand with a completely new concept and therefore, the new location was built around the self-service ethos, with SelfService kiosks, a smaller menu, self-serve drinks and salad bar, all while still remaining a meet and greet restaurant.

Aside from the solutions provided, the site is unique with 7 large advertising screens and a huge LED water feature built as the background for the kiosks, encouraging customers to use the SelfService kiosks.

The result - reduced labour costs and improved customer experience

The new solutions provide the Monterey Jack’s with diverse revenue streams, whilst catering to a range of customer ordering preferences and reducing labour costs at the same time. The management team reported that the introduction of SelfService kiosks has resulted in a whopping 8% reduction in labour costs in just 2 weeks, freeing up the team to focus on other important areas such as customer service.

The business also reported less food waste and more streamlined operations right from the start, all the way to the end of the customer journey. The combination of comprehensive training from Select EPOS and a wide range of implemented ICRTouch solutions has also resulted in a significantly better level of service in the restaurant, improving customer experience overall.

Monterey Jack’s latest branch now benefits from a seamlessly integrating ecosystem which reduces costs, offers diverse ordering channels and enhances overall business efficiency.
