Since we last visited, Sam Shaw, Managing Director and his team have adopted some new procedures for customers to follow when visiting the pub. It is now required for customers to order their food and drink through The Fighting Cocks app. This can be done by scanning a unique QR code found on the table, or simply by downloading the app via IOS or Android. Government restrictions dictate that customers must be served at their table, so it was imperative that Sam had the right ordering solutions in place to enable efficient service.

We sat down with Sam and Laura Swan, Manager, to discuss what benefits and the impact of using software solutions, ByTable and PocketTouch have had on the business.

Sam Shaw says:

โ€œI would say that ByTable has totally saved the day. So much so, weโ€™ve been able to run the business to full capacity without the need to have 5 more members of staff to serve tables with PocketTouch.

When people arrive at the pub who arenโ€™t able to use the app to order, our staff use PocketTouch to place orders quickly without having to go all the way back to the bar. Itโ€™s working extremely well, weโ€™ve never seen business like this in April, the recent sunny weather has also contributed to our success too.

Weโ€™re finding that people are so desperate to come out for lunch, dinner or just a few drinks that they would happily sit in the marquee no matter how cold it is. We have recently invested in a second marquee as the English weather is unpredictable and the last thing we want to do is turn customers away.

The turnover of the tables is more efficient with ByTable, we are never going back to how we ran the business before adopting these solutions. I can see the app working even better when restrictions change and weโ€™re allowed to have customers seated indoors as well as outdoors.

Weโ€™re serving as many customers as we would have done, on probably 50% less front of house staff. The Staff that would normally be stuck behind the bar operating the tills, now they are able to get on with other jobs and pay more attention to customers. Not only this, staff are more organised, they know where they are going and what they are doing. Itโ€™s just absolutely amazing!โ€

We would like to thank Sam and Laura for their hospitality and taking the time to sit down with us to chat about the benefits these ordering solutions have on their business.
